Edgemode Acquisition News
US data centre developer EdgeMode has signed a non-binding agreement to acquire a 51% stake in Spanish energy developer Ibersun Generación, securing majority control of a battery energy storage system (BESS) platform in Spain.

If completed, the transaction would immediately add 52 MW of grid-connected battery storage projects to EdgeMode's development pipeline and provide access to a larger pipeline of future BESS developments.
The proposed acquisition remains subject to due diligence and the execution of definitive agreements.
EdgeMode Expands Its Energy Storage Pipeline
According to EdgeMode, the initial 52 MW portfolio is expected to achieve Ready-to-Build (RTB) status by the end of 2026.
The platform also includes a 1.9 GW pipeline of strategically secured land sites for future BESS developments.
EdgeMode said the locations were selected for their proximity to electrical substations, securing priority access to grid connections and positioning the platform for future capacity auctions under Spanish energy regulations.
Addressing Grid Storage Needs
According to EdgeMode, the joint venture is intended to address structural needs within the Iberian power market by storing excess solar generation and improving grid balancing.
The company also said Spanish authorities have introduced financial incentives, including grants and subsidies, for certified BESS developments.
Portfolio Could Reach 2,900 MWh
EdgeMode estimates that the fully developed portfolio could provide approximately 2,900 MWh of energy storage capacity.
The company said the first projects are expected to become operational within 18 months.
Funding Strategy
EdgeMode said it plans to help fund the development of the storage platform through proceeds generated from the monetization and sale of assets within its AI data centre portfolio.
The company develops AI-ready data centre campuses and energy infrastructure projects, focusing on power-secured developments that support growing demand for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
