💰 Brookfield acquires Aypa Power in USD $7 billion deal
Brookfield Asset Management will acquire battery energy storage developer Aypa Power from funds managed by Blackstone Energy Transition Partners in a transaction valuing the company at an enterprise value of USD $7 billion. The acquisition includes Aypa’s 6.5 GW portfolio of operating, under-construction and contracted battery storage assets across the US and Canada, along with a development pipeline exceeding 20 GW. The transaction expands Brookfield’s position in the North American energy storage market and will support Aypa’s continued expansion through Brookfield’s capital and operating expertise.

MN8 Energy will acquire Greenbacker Renewable Energy in a cash-and-equity deal worth up to USD $375 million, creating one of the three largest clean power platforms in the U.S. The combined company will own more than 6 GW of operating and under-construction capacity across 33 states, with a 9.3 GW funded development pipeline and 94% of capacity under contract. The acquisition expands MN8 into wind generation while adding battery storage, distributed generation, and utility-scale solar, positioning the platform to meet growing power demand from AI-driven data centres.
🌎 Scottish Power invests USD $2 billion to repower UK’s largest onshore wind farm
Scottish Power will invest £1.5 billion (USD $2.01 billion) to repower the Whitelee Wind Farm in Scotland, replacing 215 ageing turbines with 124 larger models. The upgrade will nearly double the project’s capacity to around 1 GW, enough to power approximately 650,000 homes. Construction is expected to begin around 2030 and finish by 2035, creating a sizeable pipeline of procurement and contracting opportunities across the renewable energy supply chain.

Bluecore Energy raises $10M pre-seed to develop floating nuclear reactors
Maritime nuclear startup Bluecore Energy has raised USD $10 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Slauson & Co. The company is developing small modular reactors (SMRs) deployed on floating barges to provide mobile, zero-emission power for ports, communities and large energy users. The funding will support prototype development, with investors including Harlem Capital, Precursor Ventures, LMNT, Chris Larsen and HartBeat Ventures.
Gritt raises USD $32.4M to automate solar and infrastructure construction
US startup Gritt has raised USD $32.4 million in pre-seed and Series A funding to develop AI-powered robotics for infrastructure construction, including solar farms, data centres, bridges and roads. Led by Obvious Ventures, the USD $26 million Series A included participation from Union Square Ventures, Active Impact Investments and previous investors. Construction companies are already deploying Gritt’s robotic systems to automate material handling and solar installation. The investment reflects growing interest in construction automation as renewable infrastructure developers seek to overcome bottlenecks in project delivery, reduce construction timelines and address skilled labour constraints.
Oklo Receives DOE Authorization to Start Its Groves Test Reactor
Oklo has received U.S. Department of Energy startup authorization for its Groves Isotope Test Reactor, clearing the way for fuel loading, startup testing, and reactor operations. The privately funded facility will demonstrate Oklo's reactor design, construction, and operational capabilities while supporting future domestic isotope production for applications including cancer care, manufacturing, scientific research, space exploration, and national security. The milestone also establishes a repeatable deployment model that could help accelerate the company's future commercial reactor projects.
